Overcoming Obstacles
Tom is available for speaking engagements, corporate consulting, and panel discussions. Tom's speeches and discussions focus on his experience with ESRD, life as a kidney transplant recipient, and overcoming obstacles.
"I quickly discovered that it’s easy to give up when you receive a diagnosis like end-stage renal disease. I didn’t want to give up. I wanted to continue running. If I was to get through kidney disease and receive a transplant then I would need to be as healthy and as active as possible—for me that meant continuing to run." - from Why I Run
Tom's speeches and discussions are designed to inspire others to achieve great things, no matter what roadblocks life puts in the way. Tom has told his kidney story during speeches and panels with: Clif Bar, the Boston Marathon, National Kidney Foundation of New England, Olaris, Massachusetts State House, Mediar Therapeutics Drive for Dialysis, and the HKUHTI (Harvard Kidney, Urology and Hematology Training Institute) Annual Retreat.
Since 2025, Tom has been a member of the Olaris Transplant Advisory Council (TAC).
